• Fix races in the device creation and removal code (patches ready)

• Change the I/O splitting mechanism and the crypt target to avoid relying on recursion, thereby reducing the size of the kernel's stack

• Automatically detect and handle changes to physical capacity

• Review driver error messages to provide more specific information

• If I/O to an underlying device fails, pass details of the failure back to the original I/O

• Review and improve kcopyd memory handling
