Felling the Cedar Tree in the back garden at Halse Manor

Halse Manor has, or rather had, a very nice old cedar tree in the back garden which provided a lot of shade in the summer and a lot of photo opportunities all year round. Unfortunately it also had the habit of dropping branches in high winds as a defense against being blown over. In 2004 however more and more branches started coming off, and then in September one narrowly missed the gardener. Signs of rot were evident in the core of the tree and so it was decided that it had to come down. A month later the tree fellers arrived and this is a photographic record of the end of a great old tree.
