Collecting Data

• Will need to repeat data collection to compare performance before and after a change

• Have well definited data collection environment:

  • Hardware (cpu, memory, network interface, etc.)
  • System software
  • Application software
  • Test procedure

• Ideally, experimental configuration defined in enough detail that a developer could replicate the experiments without the your assistance.

• May not be feasible to run tests without your assistance (e.g. propriatary data)
