Abstract

When used correctly, benchmarks are powerful tools accurately summarizing important characteritics of a system. However, when misused, benchmarks provide useless or misleading information. Properly implemented benchmarks and experiments can give developers essential insights into the issues affecting performance and allow the developer to effectively tune the system for better performance.
