Using thin provisioning – thin snapshots
To create a normal snapshot of a Logical Volume you would need to specify the size of the volume that will store the differences e.g. lvcreate -s vg1/lv1 -L100M
To create a thin snapshot of a thin Logical Volume, no extra space needs to be allocated because the pool is already there, so use the same command but omit the size
- lvcreate -s vg1/lv1
- lvcreate --type snapshot vg1/lv1 –name lvsnap1
