Metadata – Updating Metadata(2)

• Commit

  • The metadata is translated into a device-mapper table and loaded but not activated yet.
  • The mapped device is synced and I/O suspended – new I/O is queued.
  • The precommit offset and size is moved to the live metadata slot in every Metadata Area Header. Requires writing a single sector to each.
  • The mapped device is unsuspended allowing I/O to flow again.
