Mapped Devices

• A Mapped Device is specified by a table that specifies how to map each range of logical sectors of the device using one of the mappings.

• The mapping tables are usually small, but the implementation (a compact btree) is also efficient for large tables.

• Mappings can be loaded as separate modules that register with the Device Mapper.
